Seen at the bus turning circle in the centre of Cairns is one of the fleet of locally bodied Mercedes
belonging to Transit Australia. This company, once associated with Transit Holdings in Britain
brought that company's minibus philosophy to the other side of the world.

An offside view of another Merc lettered for the 'Beaches Express' - the heart of the operation being
connecting Cairns with the many delightful sandy beaches north along the coast. Full sized buses
had operated the service before, including ex Sheffield and Midland Red MAN artics.

Another Merc caught along the main road which parallels the coast within Cairns.

On the same road, but heading out of town, the rear view of a Merc is seen. It is being overtaken by
a coach with theatre style raked seating from front to rear. The mountains of the rainforest are in the
background.

The Sunbus fleet is not exclusively Mercs, this Nissan is used on one of the town services. It is one man
operated which with the set back entrance makes for interesting fare collection contortions.
