Surfside Buslines were keen Leyland National operators and built up a substantial fleet of 10.9 metre dual door models either bought new or acquired secondhand. They also purchased the only 11.3m model - specially shortened to the then maximum 11m length - which entered Australia as a demonstrator and has been modelled by EFE. This National, seen in Surfers Paradise is in the same colour scheme as the EFE model when photographed in 1989. |

Recently added to the Surfside fleet back in 1989 was this Leyland B21 in advert livery. The B21 was a version of the Leyland National suitable for bodying independently. |

Two Surfside Nationals, one in advert livery, provide the background to this 1989 photo of Gold Coast Citybus' National. This is believed to be Citybus' only National, 095NKY, which was new to Blackstone Busways of Booval in Queensland and passed through two other owners before acquisition by Citybus. It is a dual door 10.9m model. |
