| Tappins was a family run business based in Didcot from 1900. In 2007 it was acquired by Heyfordian, but the Oxford City Sightseeing opentop service was continued separately by Tom Tappin. Only five years later Heyfordian sold Tappins to the Newbury based Weavaway group and Tom sold the sightseeing operation to City of Oxford in 2017. |
Typical of the Tappins fleet was this Plaxton Paramount 3500 bodied Volvo B10M on mundane school contract work in Watlington. It sports the stylish 'TC' livery.

 The Classic Tour operation had its origins in Edinburgh. Lothian Regional Transport became miffed at Guide Friday starting activities in competition with LRT's established city coach tours. So Classic Tours popped up in odd places in competition with Guide Friday, but needed the support of a local operator. Tappins and Heyfordian both helped LRT by providing crew and depot facilities, LRT provided the old Alexander bodied Atlanteans surplus from Edinburgh's bus services like former 935 (OFS935M) here. The operation was ultimatley subsumed into the City Sightseeing operations in Oxford. |

 Despite its Bristol registration, 177 (N177LHU) was new to Tappins. The Van Hool bodied Volvo B10M is seen at the North Oxford services, a popular coach stopover, in July 2006. |
