SHOWBUS international 2021

SHOWBUS50 is taking place at the
Hertfordshire County Showground on Sunday September 25th
& the SHOWBUSflyby between Brunel Uni and Oxford on Sunday September 18th

Our first event was in January 1973 at Brunel University in Uxbridge so 2022 sees our 50th display.
We are having a double celebration with the SHOWBUSflyby along the A40 between Brunel University and Oxford Services via High Wycombe and Thame. This is similar to the event we staged very successfully in 2020 during the pandemic in lieu of the annual Showground display.
The following weekend the usual annual display will be at the Hertfordshire County Showground by Junction 9 of the M1.

The Herts Showbus venue is only 15 minutes from Whipsnade Zoo, which nestles in the beautiful Dunstable Downs. Every 30 minutes or more, a free bus will shuttle between Showbus and the Zoo.

Alan Fletcher We are delighted to announce that Neighbours icon, Alan Fletcher, better known to many as Dr Karl Kennedy, will be joining us to present the prizes on the 25th. He will be in the UK touring with his show "The Doctor Will See You Now". The show was intended to tour in 2020 as a tribute to Neighbours 35 years and Alan's 25 years as DrK. Poignantly, two years on, it celebrates the passing of the show. The dates and venues of the tour will be listed on his website. Fletch
Special services
Beside the Zoo shuttle Red Rose, Arriva (TBC) and Carousel (TBC) will be supporting us with special bus services from both St Albans (Red Rose), Luton & Dunstable (Arriva), High Wycombe, Amersham, Chesham & Hemel Hempstead (Carousel) to SHOWBUS. There is also the opportunity to travel to the Verulanium Roman Museum on the Red Rose St Albans service and to zip along the busway on the Arriva service.

The site is amazingly well drained grass, thanks to the French drainage system installed, and criss-crossed by lots of paved roadways. Despite the wet conditions prior to the 2019 event there were no ground problems. The SHOWBUS TRADERS VILLAGE large marquee will house many of the stalls on site.

National Express
Not only is it our 50th, but NATIONAL EXPRESS is celebrating their 50th birthday with us, with a special display of new and former NATIONAL EXPRESS coaches.

United Counties Bristol FS6G ECW
Amongst the features planned for 2021 is the Hertfordshire Hub, where we hope to have buses from Hertfordshire bus operators on display to promote travel in the county. We will have other special displays celebrating the centenary of one time local operator United Counties, founded 100 years and a day before SHOWBUS. A special feature on United Counties as well as the DMS will be included in the programme on sale for £5 on the day together with the next edition in the Enviromania series. We will be having a second Enviromania display, ten years after the first one at Duxford amnd hope to include several of the 400MMC models appearing with independent operators.

Enviromania
Showbus is an event that has, and always will be, run for enthusiasts by enthusiasts. We aim to stage an event that is unrivalled and hope that we offer our visitors value for money with a great range of displays and attractions.

We always like to hear from visitors to Showbus, and entrants too, and we would welcome suggestions as to what attractions you would like to see at the 2022 event, our fiftieth. Contact us via the Contacts page

How much?
To avoid the problems of social distancing as buses enter the site in the morning, we need to restrict the numbers. Therefore
the site will not be open to the public until 1100h
To reflect this the cost of entry is slashed to:
Adult £ 10     Child (under 16) £5         Child (under 5) Free
CASH ONLY - NO CHANGE GIVEN You will drop your cash in a sealed box to reduce the problems associated with handling money.
Consequently there will be no concessionary admission, but that is no increase in the cost since 2019 for those eligible.
Disabled carer (one per person): Free
Car parking will be free.

A limited number of advance purchase tickets for entry between 0830 and 0900 will be availble at £ 25 each. Otherwise there will be no advance purchase tickets as the grounds are big enough that the site will have space regardless of numbers.

For those arriving on a SHOWBUS exhibit there are special entry arrangements which will also apply to large parties & excursions.

If circumstances dictate SHOWBUS will revert to the highly successful and much acclaimed SHOWBUSflyby format adopted last year between Beaconsfield and Oxford motorway services along the A40 via Thame and with the SHOWBUS TRADERS VILLAGE located in High Wycombe's historic Market Place again plus improved display opportunities in High Wycombe.
