SHOWBUS international is at the
Hertfordshire County Showground for 2021
Pandemic willing, SHOWBUS will be back at the Hertfordshire County Showground by Junction 9 of the M1 on Sunday September 26th 2021.
If circumstances dictate SHOWBUS will revert to the highly successful and much acclaimed SHOWBUSflyby format adopted last year between Beaconsfield and Oxford motorway services along the A40 via Thame and with the SHOWBUS TRADERS VILLAGE located in High Wycombe's historic Market Place again plus improved display opportunities in High Wycombe.
The Herts Showbus venue is only 15 minutes from Whipsnade Zoo, which nestles in the beautiful Dunstable Downs. Every 30 minutes or more, a bus will shuttle between Showbus and the Zoo and there will be 50% off for SHOWBUS visitors on production of their SHOWBUS ticket. (TBC)
The new venue saw a return last year of many of the regulars who used to attend SHOWBUS at Duxford, and for visitors, as opposed to exhibitors, the entry cost is significantly less.
Beside the Zoo shuttle Red Rose, Arriva and Carousel will be supporting us with special bus services from both St Albans Stations, Luton, Dunstable, High Wycombe, Amersham, Chesham and Hemel Hempstead to SHOWBUS, including links from Luton Airport via the Busway. There is also the opportunity to travel to the Verulanium Roman Museum. (TBC)
The new site is amazingly well drained grass criss-crossed by lots of roadways. The SHOWBUS TRADERS VILLAGE large marquee will house many of the stalls on site.
The London Bus Display at SHOWBUS will be in a separate enclosure, we hope to bring you the latest buses from the Capital, including a electric doubledeckers. But expect too London buses from years gone by, including the odd classic Routemaster. In particular we will be celebrating 50 years of the London DMS Fleetline, though only few of the 2500 plus survive.
Amongst the features planned for 2021 is the Hertfordshire Hub, where we hope to have buses from Hertfordshire bus operators on display to promote travel in the county. We will have other special displays celebrating the centenary of one time local operator United Counties, founded 100 years and a day before SHOWBUS. A special feature on United Counties as well as the DMS will be included in the programme on sale for £5 on the day together with the next edition in the Enviromania series. We will be having a second Enviromania display, ten years after the first one at Duxford amnd hope to include several of the 400MMC models appearing with independent operators.
Showbus is an event that has, and always will be, run for enthusiasts by enthusiasts. We aim to stage an event that is unrivalled and hope that we offer our visitors value for money with a great range of displays and attractions.
We always like to hear from visitors to Showbus, and entrants too, and we would welcome suggestions as to what attractions you would like to see at the 2022 event, our fiftieth. Contact us via the Contacts page
For more information on the event click here.
Pricing will be dependent on COVID restrictions. If there are no restrictions we hope to maintain prices as 2019 with only a 50p increase in standard adult admission as below:
Adult £ 12.50         Child (under 16) £5         Child (under 5) Free
Family ticket (2 adults and any children) £25
Concessionary admission by showing your bus pass plus anyone holding a valid bus ticket to Showbus by Carousel, Arriva or Red Rose: £10
Disabled carer (one per person): Free
Car parking will be free.
If COVID restrictions dictate we may need to go to a pre-ticketed event which is more costly to administer. We might also need to restrict entry to all but a limited number before 1100h for social distancing requirements. Otherwise there will be no advance purchase tickets as the grounds are big enough that the site will have space regardless of numbers. Entry will be cash only.
For those arriving on a SHOWBUS exhibit there are specially reduced entry rates which also apply to large parties & excursions.
