On the previous page, behind Oxford Dart 503 was Olympian 240 - here is its rear end. Not really
the way to treat such an impressive machine as a coach seated Olympian. Like 503, there were no
signs of Arriva ownership on the morning of Saturday 16th December. But where could you put them?
The legal lettering had been changed, of course.

The day before and B10B 622 (N622FJO) is seen on its regular haunt, the 329 to Reading. The bus
is arriving a little late in Marlow as it edges its waythrough town congestion.
|
|
In contrast, 626 (N414NRG) is arriving early in Marlow from the Reading direction. It is turning by
Platts garage to the stop at Quoiting Square, the one time terminus for Marlow services. The bus
then takes quite a detour avoiding the centre of Marlow, which Reading bound buses pass through.
There are several Marlow stops which are only served by Wycombe bound vehicles!

Before Arriva's takeover, the Lynxes were ousted from their favourite haunt - the Reading-Wycombe 329 - by the batch of
Volvo B10B/Plaxton Verde singldeckers from Oxford. 625 (N413NRG) is one of a number originally
intended for the Go-Ahead North East fleets. It is seen here on a complicated route diversion to
serve the Handy Cross Sports Centre in High Wycombe.
|
|
The journey was not fruitless on this occasion as passengers did alight at the Centre, indeed the diversion
appears to be a success as Reading Buses 328, which helps to provide a half hourly service between
the companies' home towns, has also diverted its journeys via the Centre. The route is still convoluted
to serve one stop left on the original routing, which could be resited without undue upset.
