An unusual candidate for preservation, at such a tender age, is Maidstone & District's 1078 (G78SKR) a 20-seat Reeve Burgess bodied Mercedes 609D, barely ten years old. Notwithstanding it looks very nice in the pre-Arriva colours, displayed here at the 1999 Quainton Bus Rally.

 What has become of 1078 is not known, but sister vehicle, 1077 (G77SKR) has been preserved and is seen here arriving at the 2010 SHOWBUS international display at Duxford. |
 The Mercedes was also on display at the Maidstone Centenary Rally at the Kent Showground in April 2011. |
 Joining 1077 at the 2010 SHOWBUS international display was ECW bodied Bristol VRTSL3 5138 (WKO138S), M&D being one of few fleets able to take the model in highbridge form. |
 The highbridge VR was also at the M&D Centenary in Kent the following April. |
