Stagecoach East Midlands has become the over arching division of Stagecoach including their Hull and Lincolnshire divisions as well as the original East Midland Motor Services operation. The Stagecoach in Hull operations stem from the takeover of Hull City Transport, whilst the Lincolnshire division includes the original Lincolnshire Road Car Company and the municipal operations of Lincoln City and the long combined operations of Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
Mansfield District, Midland General and Notts & Derby were three closely associated Tilling companies with distinctive liveries within the nationalised group. When the goverment nationalised the BET group, which included East Midland Motor Services some rationalisation took place. The Mansfield District company was merged with East Midland whilst the other two Tilling companies came under the control of another BET company, Trent Motor Traction.
When Stagecoach acquired Chesterfield City Transport it was merged with East Midland operations, but later transferred to Stagecoach Yorkshire.
