South Midland's touring coaches wintered in Newbury depot under canvas. Bristol C430 (RJB430F) had just emerged from hibernation and had been treated to a deep wax polish. The coach was an unusual combination of Bristol LH chassis with Duple Commander coachwork, from Duple's Blackpool factory.
