Arriva Southend Dennis Trident W434XKX The first new doubledeckers to join the Southen fleet for some time are these ALX400 Alexander bodied Dennis Tridents. The buses are in contrast to the low floor deckers in use in London - DAF DB250s. The batch, route branded for Southend services 7 and 8, is shared with The Shires, hence the Luton registration - W434XKX. The bus is seen at the Alresford Bus Rally in July 2000.

Stephenson Tiger
Seen it EFE SHOWBUS International 2001 is former Southend coach Leyland Tiger 249 (A249SVW) with Duble Caribbean coachwork. The vehicle has not strayed to far, as the livery shows it is with Stephensons of Rochford, a keen operator of former local buses and coaches.
