Grey Green Volvo B10M/East Lancs rebuild 914
Grey Green's initial London operations were not all prestigious new vehicle contracts. Some may still recall creaking ex South Yorkshire DMS look alike Fleetlines. More luxurious were luxury coaches rebodied as non luxury buses, both single and doubledeck. The 210 received a fleet of Volvo B10Ms rejuvenated with beefy looking East Lancs bodies. The route subsequently passed to Frank Thorpe, operating a fleet of brand new Plaxton SLF Darts.

Former coach 929 found further use immediately after withdrawal from the 210 with Limebourne, while the company was struggling after vehicles had been repossessed by finance companies and before new SCUK (Caetano) bodied SLF Darts were delivered. Volvo 929 is seen here on the 156, with obviously inadequate blind information. Some of the batch subsequently appeared with Arriva Scotland freshly painted in turquoise and stone. Many ended their Arriva days as driver trainers.

Grey Green at Woburn Abbey
In the late 1980s Grey Green were regular supporters of SHOWBUS at Woburn. Here Lord Tavistock presents awards to the fleet representatives: promotional vehicle (ex Trent 1006) KCH106, a Leyland Titan PD2 MCW bodied open topper, East Lancs 912 (H912XYT) is one 13 singledeck short Volvo B10M and Alexander bodied Volvo Citybus doubledecker 156 (H156XYU) from a supplementary batch of four machines which followed on from the original London deckers for the 24.

In this second view of the occasion, the particularly short rear overhang for the B10M singledecker is more evident.
