Geoffrey Hilditch, General Manager at Halifax was heavily involved in the development of the Dennis
Dominator, the chassis that lead to Dennis' re-entry into the British Bus Market. Whilst the chassis
enjoyed favour with some operators, noticeably South Yorks, it did not enjoy the success of today's
Dart model. Before any could enter service in Halifax, Mr Hilditch moved to Leicester and his
Dominator came with him. Most had East Lancs bodywork as the two extreme photos of 237 show.
East Lancs bodied the vast majority of Dominators. Sandwiched in between is even more unusual
231, a Marshall bodied example - doubledeck bodies being unfamiliar to Marshall.
