Busways Olympian at Night The black surrounding to the grill and large bumpers were a distinctive feature of Newcastle's first Olympians. This night scene shows one of the first batch near the railway station.

E917KYR 688 (E917KYR)'s past is given away by its London registration. The vehicle was one of a batch of Northern Counties bodied Olympians leased to London Transport for its Bexleybus operation in the run up to privatisation and franchising. They operated in a cream and blue livery akin to that of Eastbourne. Having spent some time in Stagecoach Busway's normal livery, they have been painted in Magicbus colours, mimicking Stagecoach's similar Manchester operation. The route provides a cheaper no frills alternative on the bus routes used commonly by local students.
