Jones Leyland Tiger Cub Weymann 98
It is especially nice that Roger and Sue Wortley have preserved this example from the small Welsh independent fleet of Jones of Aberbeeg. The vehicle is a 1958 Leyland Tiger Cub with Weymann bodywork, a type that was widespread in BET fleets at the time. Whilst South Wales and Western Welsh would have had similar buses, they would not have appeared in this refreshing livery. The photo was taken at Southsea and 98 (889AAX) lived with Roger and Sue on the English south coast.

The Tiger Cub lined up with other Welsh buses at the 2002 SHOWBUS event. Jones of Aberbeeg was taken over by Red & White Services at around the time of the formation of the National Bus Company. The fleet received new Leyland Nationals which had the distinction of being painted in blue and white, complete with appropriate NBC logos, and in complete contrast to the poppy red and leaf green being received by most other Nationals at the time. Sadly the distinction did not last long and Jones became submerged in Red & White - in more ways than one!
