Seen recently in Moonee Ponds - alleged home of Dame Edna Everidge - is KINETIC's 623 (7246AO) a Designline bodied MAN 16.240. The bus is with its third owner, but has remained as 623 throughout. It was new in 2008 to Ventura for their franchised National Bus city operations in Melbourne, and later passing to Transdev with the franchise. Ventura had been a big fan of the distinctive New Zealand built Designline bodywork, but their numbers were diminishing by the time KINETIC took over, but clearly a number had been squirreled away for the major changes with franchises in 2025. Several long standing independents were swept away as KINETIC took over services provided by the likes of Ryans, Moonee Valley and Kastoria. Whilst some of the losers buses were acquired, a large number of the Designline buses reappeared in service across then north of Melbourne. Whether coincidence or not KINETIC has recently purchased a number of GBV (Designline's successor) bodied King Long electric buses for their Skybus subsidiary.
