JANUARY 1 Winchester. Friends of King Alfred Buses Running Day and transport enthusiasts' bazaar, 08.50 to 17.30. This event takes place again on New Year's Day, although arrangements may be affected by the planned city redevelopment. Free services in and around Winchester on the former routes of King Alfred Motor Services and other local operators. Also bus tours, coach tours, display of vehicles. Southend-on-Sea Heritage Bus Running Day, 0900-1800. Organised by Stephenson's of Essex. A mix of heritage and modern vehicles will provide a public far paying service on various routes in the old Southend & District Co-ordination Scheme Area. Feeder trips from some surrounding towns. JANUARY 10/11 St Albans Classic bus running days. Main event on Sunday, limited service Saturday, linked to model railway exhibition. SEPTEMBER 2009 - SHOWBUS The date of Showbus in 2009 will be announced after the 2008 event and will be displayed on the front page of showbus.com - the likely day will be mid-September. Assuming the rally is again at the Imperial War Museum its timing has to fit in with other Museum events. The Helitech Exhibition will likely be staged in September 2009 and this takes a lot of preparation and occupies large areas usually used for vehicle displays when Showbus is staged.
