Cairns Trans AEC Swift
This pair of Cairns Trans AEC Swifts was from a handful acquired about a year before they were seen here in Cairns in 1989. The buses were new to STA in Adelaide or Admet as it was subsequently known. Their somewhat futuristic PMCSA bodies, like the chassis, date from about twenty years earlier.

Koala Koaches AEC Swift PMCSA 11
Koala Koaches of Burleigh Heads had an interesting fleet seen on a visit in late July 2004. Number 11 (413DYW) was originally with the State Transport Authority of Adelaide as their 745 (STA745), but came from Cairns Trans where it had been 41 (538AJM). The bus is a PMCSA bodied AEC Swift 760 but is no longer in the fleet. The identical unidentified bus obviously has a similar history, from its destination blind it was probably number 12 in the fleet.

Dead Koalas
At the back of the yard was a graveyard of dead Koalas. Adelaide Swifts and MANs from unknown sources feature. On the left the Swift numbered 1 bears the emblem of Hillcrest Christian College.

Cairns Volvo school bus
An unidentified ex Adelaide Volvo school bus at work in Cairns, probably in 1992, working for Stagecoach. Note the Sunbus Mercedes minibus coming up behind.

Koala Koaches AEC Swift PMCSA 2
Thought to have been photographed in 1989 was this AEC Swift, believed to be 2 (485PNT) in the Burleigh Heads fleet of Koala Koaches. It has not been possible to trace its identity in the Adelaide fleet.
