MTT Hobart tram 141
Trams operated in Hobart from 1893 and the system closed shortly before the later trolleys in 1960. When opened it was the first complete electric tramway system in the southern hemisphere. However tram 141 was amongst the last built for the system in 1952 and enjoyed a brief service career of only eight years and was then donated to the Museum.

MTT Hobart doubledeck tram 46
Besides being the first electric system, Hobart was the first system in the world to operate an entirely doubledeck fleet. Number 46 dates from 1922 and like its stablemates was reduced to a singledecker in 1948 after a spate of derailments causing the deckers to topple over. Scrapped six years later the body of 46, like many others, was sold for use as a shed. It was discovered as such in 1973 and painstaking restoration had it ready to be on show in Elizabeth Street Mall for the city's centenary of public transport. The tram sadly lacks an underframe and running gear so is not going anywhere in a hurry.

Launceston Municipal Tramways Brush Gunn tram 13
Launceston too had a tram system, operating from 1911 until 1952 when trolleybuses replaced them. The first 14 trams were bodied locally by J&T Gunn on British Brush trucks and this is number 13.
