Ventura Volvo B7R Volgren SC222 635, Scania L113CRL Volgren CR221L 801 & 809
Easter 2018 was a busy rail replacement occasion. In addition to all the rail disruption due to level crossing removal and Metro Tunnel construction, not only the tram route which crosses St Kilda Road, the 58, but all the St Kilda Road trams were disrupted. Two Volgren CR221L bodied Scania L113CRL buses, 801 (2600AO) and 809 (2601AO) are standing by at the foot of the Shrine of Remembrance with Volgren SC222 Malaysian bodied Volvo B7R 635 (8084AO). Both the Scanias have been withdrawn but the 2010 Volvo, just over ten years younger, was still in service in 2023. Crossing behind is a CDC Melbourne Volgren CR228L bodied Volvo on the 605 to Gardenvale. The 605 had recently been modified to skirt the Botanical Gardens, the road it is seen on was hitherto not a bus route.

Ventura Volvo B7R Volgren SC222 686
Turning into the yard at the back of Federation Square in January 2019 is 686 (9132AO) a 2012 Volvo B7R. Ventura had adopted a quirky practice of placing fleetnames on the rear windows instead of on the paintwork. If the company had a regular turnover of vehicles this would make sense as it would mean zero likelihood of damage to paintwork, but buses serve the company for many years. So the result is to deprive passengers of a decent view out of the window! The Fed Square yard is a regular terminus for rail replacement services, which is what 686 is doing. Hopefully passengers will be able to see their stop when they get there!
